Native habitat and growth pattern
Syngonium podophyllum is native to the tropical rainforests of Central and South America. In the wild, it begins life as a groundcover before climbing trees with its aerial roots. Indoors, it thrives as either a trailing or climbing plant, producing arrow-shaped leaves that mature into larger, lobed foliage with more dramatic variegation.
